    "People Helping People" Scholarship

    "We recognize your district's commitment to students and your students' commitment
    to their community, therefore this scholarship is our way of further enhancing
    this strong relationship our organizations share."

    High School
    This $500 award is presented to one high school senior in each high school listed on Sun East's Federal Charter as a Select Employee Group (SEG).

    High School seniors interested in applying must be seeking higher education, demonstrate at least 40 hours of community service experience within the previous year, and submit an essay on how his or her community service experience has impacted his or her life. Applications can be printed from this website or may be obtained from the high school's guidance counselors.


    College/University
    This $500 award is presented to a student attending one of the collges or universities on Sun East's Federal Charter, with a minimum of 30 credits who volunteered for community service within the year. Applicants must submit an essay about how this community service experience has impacted their lives. Applications can be printed from this website or may be obtained from the financial aid office.




    "People Helping People" Student Award - K-8 Schools

    This $100 award is presented to one eighth grade student in each of the private K-8 schools listed on Sun East's Federal Charter as a Select Employee Group (SEG).

    Students eligible for this award have volunteered for a community project within the year, and must write an essay on how this experience has impacted their lives. Applications can be printed from this website or may be obtained from school principals.




    "Best Teacher Under the Sun" Award

    "We recognize the importance of educators being role models for young people and guiding students toward a successful future. We want to pay tribute to teachers who demonstrate excellence in creating a motivating learning environment for their students."

    This award is presented to one teacher in each category of Elementary Schools (grades K-5), Middle Schools (grades 6-8), and High Schools (grades 9-12) in the school districts listed on Sun East's Federal Charter as a Select Employee Group (SEG).

    The winning teacher receives $500 and his/her school also receives $500 for this recognition.

    School faculty, administrators, students, and parents may submit nominations for a teacher. The Best Teacher Under the Sun Award acknowledges outstanding achievements of teachers in his/her performance in daily classroom activities, special projects or programs, or exemplary efforts to inspire students to reach beyond their grasp.

    All applications are submitted to Sun East Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 2231, Aston, PA 19014, Attn: Scholarship Committee. Deadline for applications is February 1st. Click here to print the application.





    Schools Eligible for Scholarship, Student, and Teacher Awards

    One "People Helping People" award is offered to each school district or private school that is listed on Sun East's Federal Credit Union's Federal Charter as a Select Employee Group.

    Colleges, public school districts, and private secondary schools are eligible for the $500 scholarship award for high school seniors pursuing higher education or a college students with 30 credits.

    Private K-8 schools are eligible for the $100 student award for eighth grade students.

    All applicants must meet the minimum criteria listed for each award. Students interested in applying must see their school counselors for an application. College students can obtain an application at their financial aid office.
